Oracle VM Virtualbox and VMWare workstation both include essential server virtualization features, such as support for Windows and Linux, but they also have a few unique features that set them apart from each other.
Integration with vSphere: Workstation can be used to connect to VMware vCenter, ESXi, and other Workstation instances. You can then manage the virtual machines, download them, you can even upload your workstation VMs to the vSphere infrastructure which can be handy in production.

VM Sharing: Workstation Pro includes the VM sharing feature that makes the virtual machines in a specific folder on a host available to someone with Workstation that connects to your workstation instance. You can even manage user accounts and roles like you would on vSphere.
VirtualBox also has full implementations of a few features that VMware Player has in more limited incarnations, including snapshotting, virtual-network management, and cloning of workstations. There are some VMware-only functions, such as upload/download to vSphere, implemented in VMware Workstation only, but not in either VirtualBox or VMware Player.
Both desktop virtualization tools support the snapshots feature: the snapshots refer to the normal configuration of the operating system. For instance, if you make any mistake and your operating system is not performing well: In this case, the operating system must be installed to correct the mistake. The snapshots will enable you to get back to normal configurations. When a user takes a snapshot, a virtual disk image is created where all the changes in that session are recorded: you can take multiple snapshots, but it slows down the performance of the virtualization tool. It is observed that VMware workstation pro provides an unlimited number of snapshots while VirtualBox only allows a limited number of snapshots.
The VirtualBox provides a single version for all operating systems: on the other hand, VMware releases different versions for different operating systems: such as VMware Fusion is used on Host PCs containing macOS as a primary operating system, and VMware workstation helps to work on Windows and Linux based machines.
I paid money I expect faster... Is it not threading properly? I am on i7 octo 4GHz and VirtualBox seemed wayyy faster, like gcc would splatter across my screen furiously, this seems like it's not threading right. or perhaps virtualbox had a better refresh rate? why does it ghost so much ?
I have a Win7 running on my host machine and I want to do some web development using Linux platforms and test some apps on iOS. What are the main pros and cons of those to programs. I guess performance wise they should be about the same but maybe one has some functions that other lacks. In short what are the main differences between VMware workstation vs Oracle vm virtualbox?
Parallels Workstation, since it is basically meant for workstation use, detects any Internet connection that you may have, by default (if you do not wish to share the host connection with the guest machine, you will have to disable it manually). The detection of sound devices is ordinary, and running videos is a pain. The program itself eats up a good deal of memory.
At this point in time, there are two ways to bring up DetectionLab. We can bring up the hosts one at a time using vagrant up --provider= command. The provider options are virtualbox or vmware_desktop. However, there is also a faster way explained below.
VMware workstation was first introduced in 1999 by VMware. VM in VMware stands for Virtual Machines. Although VirtualBox is the more popular one, experienced users mostly prefer VMware. Besides this, VMware is also free for personal use. However, you need to get a license to use it commercially.
To install the VirtualBox Guest Additions from a Kaisen Linux system host, you can find the ISO of guest additions here: /usr/share/virtualbox/VBoxGuestAdditions.isoOnce the CD is inserted into the VM, run these commands:
To facilitate the creation of a virtualized virtual machine with QEMU/KVM, all virtual machines can be created through virt-manager. Full support for different agents like QEMU agent, SPICE, are integrated by default but disabled.SPICE agents allow you to activate the shared clipboard, put the virtual machine in full screen when viewing it via the console. This is the equivalent of the virtualbox and vmware agents.SPICE agents are managed by a systemd service. The integrated services are named spice-vdagent as well as spice-webdavd.The spice-vdagent daemon allows you to enable copy and paste as well as to adjust the resolution of the virtual machine screen in relation to the resolution of the host. This daemon is useful for guest guests (using a graphical interface). The spice-webdavd daemon is used to support file sharing between the host and the virtual machine. 2ff7e9595c
